
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh held official talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, during her official visit to Hungary.

The two sides expressed their commitment to further enhancing substantial and productive cooperation across various socio-economic sectors, with a particular emphasis on boosting economic benefits and investment, building upon the achievements of the past 75 years of bilateral relations between Mongolia and Hungary.

Ministers emphasized the importance of fully utilizing tangible opportunities in economic cooperation between the two countries and increasing trade turnover. Sides also agreed on the importance of fully implementing the Air Services Agreement signed in 2024, and launching direct flights between the two capitals, which will play a crucial role in promoting people-to-people exchanges and boosting trade relations.

Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh introduced the major national initiatives currently being implemented by the Government of Mongolia, including the “Food Supply and Safety,” “Billion Trees,” “White Gold,” and “Blue Gold” movements and exchanged views on how Hungary could cooperate with Mongolia in the successful implementation of these initiatives.
The Ministers also discussed close cooperation within the framework of the shared goal in addressing and contributing to solutions for global challenges such as climate change, desertification, land degradation, and food security. In this context, both sides agreed to work closely on preparation for the “International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists” in 2026 and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17), which will be hosted in Ulaanbaatar next year.

Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh expressed appreciation for the Government of Hungary’s scholarship program, which provides opportunities for Mongolian students to study at leading universities and reaffirmed the commitment to further expanding cooperation in the education sector between the two countries. During the meeting, the sides agreed that active cooperation between Mongolia and Hungary in the cultural and scientific fields, including joint scientific and archaeological research, the promotion of culture and arts and the preservation and parsing of cultural heritage to future generations, play a particularly important role in bringing the two people closer together.

The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations and exchanged views on certain issues of international affairs.
