The total length of the local territory is 1,340 km, and it borders the People's Republic of China for 485 km to the south, Dornogovi aimag for 165 km to the west, Khentii aimag for 260 km to the north, and Dornod aimag for 430 km to the northeast. The territory of the province is a continuation of the southern part of the Eastern Mongolian Plain, with a total area of ​​82.3 thousand km 2 and is part of the steppe zone. Most of the territory is located at an altitude of 1000-1200 m above sea level. The highest point is Shiliin Bogd Mountain, which is 1778 m above sea level, and the lowest point is Baishint, which is 790 m above sea level.
