Location: From Ulaanbaatar city: -330 km to the east Area: 80.3 thousand square kilometers Administration: 18 soums, 5 villages, 88 bags Total population: 70.2 thousand Provincial center: Chinggis city Chinggis city: 19.3 thousand people live. Khentii aimag, the birthplace of Genghis Khan, is one of the four oldest aimags of Mongolia and occupies most of the mountainous region of Khentii and is located in the basins of the Kherlen and Onon rivers. The aimag borders Dornod, Sukhbaatar, Dornogovi, Govisumber, Tuv, and Selenge aimags, and borders the Russian Federation to the north. The lifestyle and customs of the Khalkh and Buryat ethnic groups, who make up the majority of the total population of the region, are dominant. There are minority ethnic groups such as Uriankhai, Kazak, Dorved, Bayad, Dariganga, and Khamnigan.
