In 2008, by Resolution No. 129 of the Government of Mongolia, the function of the National History Museum was changed to the National Museum of Mongolia, a scientific research center that provides professional and methodological management to national and local museums. Since the establishment of the Ministry of Culture in 2021, in connection with the new approval of the Law on Museums and the Law on the Protection of Cultural Heritage, the National Museum of Mongolia has been working on updating its concept and preparing an exhibition plan for approval by the Minister of Culture on June 14, 2022. In the concept, it was confirmed that the "National Museum of Mongolia" is a research and research center organization or a leading museum that provides methods to national and local museums.
