The Government of Mongolia has announced the “Atar IV” campaign nationwide with the aim of “creating a perfect combination of agriculture and livestock farming and developing food and agriculture as a pillar sector of the economy.” Within this framework, it has been decided to introduce advanced technologies in the agricultural sector, introduce new and profitable crops suitable for soil and climate characteristics, increase feed production, and develop the central region as a model agricultural region. Tuv aimag, on the other hand, is working to increase the utilization of agricultural land by at least 80 percent within the framework of developing its agricultural sector and increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the sector. Today, the “Atar IV” campaign announced by the Government of Mongolia nationwide was launched at the aimag level, and the opening ceremony was held at the “Mongol Tuurgatan Theater”. The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Aimag's ITC N. Enkhbold, Governor L. Tumkurchodur, aimag and soum leaders, the Head of the Department for Coordination of Agricultural Policy Implementation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development D. Yesen-Erdene, Labor Heroes, honorees, farmers, and mechanizers from the agricultural sector. In accordance with the requirements of improving the food supply of the population by acquiring arable land and developing agriculture, ensuring sustainable growth in livestock farming, introducing modern technologies, and accelerating economic development, three Atr campaigns were launched in 1959, 1976, and 2008, and Tuv aimags took the lead in these campaigns. Last year, Tuv aimag harvested 462.7 thousand tons of crops from 154.2 thousand hectares of land, playing a major role in providing food for the population, producing 23 percent of the country's total harvested grain, 66 percent of potatoes, 16 percent of vegetables, 31 percent of oilseeds, and 57 percent of fodder, leading the country in potato and fodder production and total harvested crops. This year, the aimag is planned to harvest 465.9 thousand tons of crops on 159.6 thousand hectares of land. Specifically, it is planned to sow cereals on 72,100 hectares of land with a yield of 96,342 tons, potatoes on 12,353 hectares of land with a yield of 16,562 tons, vegetables on 3,185 hectares of land with a yield of 45,940 tons, green fodder on 45,000 hectares of land with a yield of 121,500 tons, and oilseeds on 26,000 hectares of land. In order to ensure the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, it is necessary to pay attention to the issues of wheat, fodder, and potato sales, increase the workforce and human resources in the sector, increase the mechanization of fodder, potatoes, and vegetables, develop seed breeding farms on a regional basis, and increase winter greenhouses, etc., and organize and consider these at the policy level. There is also an urgent need to implement in phases the creation of seed reserves at the aimag level, the cultivation of trees and shrubs, the production of a variety of fruits and vegetables, the development of greenhouse production into smart production, and the expansion of cellar and warehouse capacity.
