
On March 3, 2025, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia B.Battsetseg met with Ambassador J. Ihara, Grand Master of the Ceremonies at the Imperial Household Agency of Japan.
Minister B.Battsetseg expressed appreciation for the deepening and strengthening of the "people-centered" relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Japan in all areas, based on the shared values, within the framework of the “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity” .

She conveyed the deep gratitude of the Government and people of Mongolia for the upcoming visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan, to Mongolia in 2025. She emphasized that this historic First-ever State visit will play a crucial role in further solidifying the "people-centered" Special Strategic Partnership between two countries, under Reiwa era of Emperor Naruhito's reign. Additionally, she underscored the visit’s significance in strengthening the friendship and bonds between the peoples of both nations, which serve as the cornerstone of bilateral relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closely cooperating in the preparations for the visit and engaged in a constructive and cordial discussion.
His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito previously visited Mongolia in 2007 in the capacity of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan.
