About Us
By the decree No. 118 of the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of Mongolia on June 5, 1957, the Symphony Orchestra was established under the Mongolian Radio Committee, laying the foundation for the State Philharmonic. Later, by the resolution No. 283 of the Council of Ministers of the People's Republic of Mongolia on July 20, 1972, the "Bayan Mongolia" ensemble of the State Information and Radio Television Committee and the "Soyol Erdene" music group of the State Song and Dance Ensemble were merged, and under the initiative of artist and composer T. Namjiv, the Mongolian State Philharmonic was organized. The State Philharmonic, which was created to centralize concert organizations and provide unified leadership, held its opening performance on October 25 of the same year at the State Music and Dramatic (Opera and Ballet) Theater. The Mongolian State Philharmonic is a major concert organization with over 180 artists, performers, and staff, integrating the Symphony Orchestra, the "Bayan Mongolia" ensemble, and the "Morin Khuur" ensemble. It organizes more than 100 large-scale performances and events annually, both locally and internationally.
