The Center of Excellence for English Language Teaching was officially opened on June 12, 2025, at the Library of the National University of Mongolia. Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. 

In her remarks, Minister Battsetseg highlighted that the Center of Excellence for English Language Teaching plays an important role in further strengthening mutual trust between Mongolia and the United States and deepening people-to-people understanding, which is the lifeblood of the Mongolia-U.S. partnership. Minister Battsetseg expressed sincere gratitude to all the stakeholders who contributed to the launch of the Center of Excellence, especially to the main implementers of the program - English Language Teachers and Fellows, Peace Corps Volunteers, and volunteers from other Anglophone countries, and wished them success. 

The Center of Excellence focuses on capacity building of Mongolian English language teachers in general, vocational, and higher education institutions. So far, the Center of Excellence has organized Academic English classes, Methodology Workshop Series, and Speak Up classes and trained over 200 Mongolian teachers.

The Center of Excellence for English Language Teaching is a tangible outcome of fruitful talks between Foreign Minister Battsetseg and U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken during their reciprocal visits in July and August of 2024.
