The Trade and Investment Subcommittee meeting under the Joint Committee of Mongolia and the European Union (EU) was held online on April 8, 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by G. Ulziisaikhan, Director General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Marco Cirullo, Deputy Head of Unit B1, Far East Asia of the European Commission. During the meeting, both parties provided updates on the current economic situation, trade policies, the investment-related matters and policies on energy and critical raw materials and minerals.

During the meeting, the EU introduced its new investment-related initiative, the Sustainable Investment Facility Agreement, and provided an update on the progress of the Global Gateway Strategy. 

The Mongolian side provided information on its investment environment and the measures taken to protect foreign investors. Mongolia reiterated its commitment to exploring further cooperation with the EU in the areas of agriculture, energy, and critical raw materials. Both parties agreed to enhance the use of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+) and to advance negotiations on Geographical Indications. 

The parties agreed to organize the inaugural Mongolia-EU Business Forum in Ulaanbaatar this October and have initiated preparations.
