
In March 2024, Mongolian Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene had an official visit to the Republic of Korea and a meeting with Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of Republic of Korea to discuss introducing Korean pharmaceutical standard to Mongolia, importing Korean medicines and training 1000 medical doctors and specialists in Korea. Following meeting is being held to implement the tasks above mentioned.
In this context, on February 13, 2025 Ambassador S. Sukhbold met with Kim, Young Tae, President & Ceo, Seoul National University Hospital.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador S. Sukhbold requested to provide discounted health services to Mongolian citizens visiting the 130-year-old hospital, and Mongolian citizens living in South Korea being allowed to screen preliminary health examinations, medical treatment and support for training of 1,000 Mongolian doctors and healthcare specialists.
The President& Ceo, Kim Yong-tae, Seoul National University Hospital, highlighted that he has successfully collaborated with several key health institutions in Mongolia over the years, including the First Central Hospital of Mongolia State Clinic, the National Center for Cancer Research, the National Center for Trauma and Defect Research, and MNUS. The President& Ceo, Kim Yong-tae also mentioned that 25 percent of the hospital's foreign clients are Mongolian, and Director Kim Yong-tae provided a brief overview of the hospital's operations.
The parties agreed to continue the step-by-step professional development and training of doctors and health sector experts in Mongolia. Additionally, they will implement a new health cooperation mechanism for the Cancer Hospital project to be built in Ulaanbaatar and collaboration will focus on creating both the necessary infrastructure and human resources for the National cancer hospital.
After the meeting, S. Sukhbold visited to Seoul National University Central Hospital, the Cancer Hospital, the Children's Hospital, and the International Healthcare Center.
