
The “Mongolian Cinema Studies” International Academic Conference, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the development of cinema in Mongolia, was successfully held on April 23, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Chinggis Khaan Museum. This significant international event brought together scholars, researchers, and artists who have contributed greatly to the growth of Mongolian cinema. Opening speeches were delivered by Ms. Ch. Undral, Chair of the Film Arts Council; Mr. B. Tümen-Ölzii, Director of the Mongol Kino Studio SOE; and Dr. Ch. Bat-Erdene, Acting Rector of the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture. International keynote speakers included: Piotr Sitarski – Professor, University of Łódź, Poland Topic: “Contemporary Mongolian Thriller Films” Xu Guang – Professor, Inner Mongolia University of the Arts, China Topic: “An Overview of the Mongolian Cinematic Universe: A Comparative Study of Mongolian-themed Films from Mongolia and China” Park Kiyong – Senior Professor, Department of Cinema, Dankook University, South Korea Topic: “Policy Suggestions for the Sustainable Development of Mongolian Cinema” Sergey Anashkin – Film Critic and Researcher, Yekaterinburg, Russia Topic: “REVIVAL: The Portrayal of Modern Mongolian Youth” Mongolian researchers and presenters included: Dr. Ch. Otgonbayar – Lecturer, School of Film, Television and Media Arts, SUIS Topic: “Thematic Evolution of Mongolian Feature Films: Frequency and Trends” B. Michidmaa – Lecturer, School of Sciences, National University of Mongolia Topic: “Analyzing Feminist Representations in Mongolian Cinema” 🎤 Panel Discussion The conference featured a panel discussion organized by the Film Arts Council on “Current Challenges of Intellectual Property Rights in Mongolian Cinema.” Legal frameworks, copyright responsibilities, and strategies for strengthening creators' rights were presented and discussed.
