Ulaanbaatar city and "Dova Engineering" partnership signed a metro consulting service contract

Today, the consulting service contract for the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project was signed. The agreement was witnessed by the capital's governor and Ulaanbaatar Governor H. Nyambaatar, and the General Director of "Dova Engineering" Co., Ltd. Park Sun U.

"Dova Engineering" is leading the partnership, while "Korea National Railway", "Korea Railway Corporation" and "Susun Engineering" are members. The Japanese company "Nippon Koei", a leader in engineering consulting services, will work as a subcontractor for consulting services.

Capital Governor and Ulaanbaatar City Governor H. Nyambaatar said, "I wish you all a happy day, when the long-standing talk of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, getting a subway is becoming a reality. Today, as the capital's governor, I personally signed a contract to build the metro for 75 months with the partnership of Korea National Railways, Korea Railways Corporation, and Suson Engineering, which will be managed by Dova Engineering Company of South Korea, which was selected as the consultant for the Ulaanbaatar subway project. drew Basically, I would like to express my gratitude to the project team, which has compiled and processed the documents of the subway project, which started 20 years ago, within six months, and successfully concluded the contract negotiations with the international companies that competed in the selection process. Ulaanbaatar city will finance the metro project 100 percent with its own funds. My body has said this before. As for the project, preparatory work will be carried out until the end of 2024, and the main work will begin in 2025 and 2026. Therefore, we ask you all to support the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project, which will be the main means of transportation for us in a few years, until it is completed. This route, which is 17.7 km from Tolgoi to Amgalan and has a total of 14 stations, will be the first line of the Ulaanbaatar metro. In the future, it will be developed in coordination with the cities and sub-centers in accordance with the planning followed by the government and city administration," he emphasized in his speech.

As part of the consultation service agreement, South Korea's partnership has presented a general plan for the implementation of the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project over a period of 75 months. In the future, based on the experience of successful implementation of metro projects around the world, it is possible to build metro line I of Ulaanbaatar city in a shorter period of time and at a lower cost than the plan. In this context, metro system departments will be opened in Mongolian universities and metro specialists will be trained through the 2+2 program, i.e. two years in Mongolia and two in South Korea, for a total of four years, and one year of internship in South Korea. In addition to developing the Ulaanbaatar subway project, the South Korean partnership will also plan to optimize bus routes and build underground shopping centers that will be built along the subway stations.

In addition, the project consulting company will support the selection of a contractor for the construction of a large-capacity public transport "Metro" in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, as well as update the preliminary feasibility study and monitor whether the performance quality and standards are met at all stages of the project.

In Tashram, the international open selection of Metro's consulting service provider was held for the first time in Mongolia in two stages. The first stage of tender selection was announced on February 29, 2024, and technical proposals submitted by 20 companies from 11 countries were received on March 18.
