As part of cooperation between the defense ministries of Mongolia and Japan, Japanese Deputy Defense Minister Makoto Oniki paid a working visit to Mongolia on May 5-6, 2024.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Mongolia B. Bayarmagnai welcomed Japanese Deputy Minister of Defense Makoto Oniki, held official talks and exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation in the defense sector.

The parties strengthened the level of cooperation achieved and mutually agreed to implement the tasks and measures discussed at the meeting of defense ministers held last February, to develop defense research and analysis, and to implement joint projects and programs.

Within the framework of the visit, Japanese Vice Minister of Defense Makoto Oniki paid tribute to the memorial complex of Japanese citizens, and also visited the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces and familiarized himself with the operations of the command.
