
The first meeting of the Working Group responsible for implementing the "Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific," initiated by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), was held on February 13, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
The meeting was chaired by Mr.Ulziisaikhan G., Director-General of the Department of International Trade and Economy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was attended by over 30 representatives from both the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Ministry of Road and Transport Development, Ministry of Economy and Development, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, General Customs Administration, General Authority for Veterinary Services, Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology, National Statistics Office, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bank of Mongolia, National Data Center, and Mongol Post JSC.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced about The Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific, the draft of the Action Plan, and the "Mongolian E-Commerce Week" event, which is scheduled to be held in March in collaboration with UNESCAP and the European Union’s “International Trade Development in Mongolia” (ITDM) project.
Additionally, the Working Group members discussed strategies for ensuring the effective implementation of the Agreement, advancing the digitalization of trade-related activities, identifying key challenges, and coordinating efforts at the institutional level to address regulatory and operational issues.
